GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR CONTAINERISED SEA FREIGHT
Please read and acknowledge the terms and conditions before submitting your request
LIMITED LIABILITY COVERAGE (LLC)
Less Than Container Load (LCL)
If you are shipping cargo on an LCL basis, in case of any loss or damage to or in connection
with the cargo exceeding in actual value the equivalent of €500 lawful money of France, per package, or in case cargo not shipped in packages, per shipping unit, the value of the cargo shall be deemed to be €500 per package or per shipping unit. Therefore, the carrier’s is liability, if any, shall be determined on the basis of a value of €500 per package or per shipping unit or pro rata in case of partial loss or damage.
Full Container Load (FCL)
If you are shipping cargo on an FCL basis, the carrier is liable to only €500 of the total
shipment as the container your goods are loaded in is consider 1 shipping unit.
Hawaii or Guam Shipping Limited Liability Coverage
If you are shipping cargo to Hawaii or Guam, the carrier is liable to only €0.10 / Pound for
any cargo that is damaged or loss while in their possession.
All cargo must be packed properly for export to be eligible for our Limited Liability. If you
are shipping used household goods, used vehicles or personal effects, our Limited Liability
will only cover loss unless your goods are professionally packed and surveyed.
MARINE INSURANCE
We recommend purchasing marine insurance. There are two types of marine insurance:
All risks insurance
All risks insurance covers damage and or loss of goods. This insurance is only available if,
and only if, your goods are professionally packed and stowed for shipping. A packing list
with values or commercial invoice must be tendered prior to the shipment sailing.
Total loss insurance
Total loss insurance only covers your cargo if the entire shipment is lost. A packing list with
values or commercial invoice must be tendered prior to the shipment sailing.
All cargo must be packed properly for export to be eligible for the above-described
insurance. If you are shipping used household goods or personal effects, the above described
insurance will only cover loss unless otherwise agreed upon in writing by
Movevitesse Limited.
STORAGE (LCL CARGO ONLY)
Unless otherwise agreed in writing by Movevitesse Limited, storage charges will incur after 7
days from the time the goods were delivered to our warehouse.
Storage charges are rated as such: €7.00/Cubic Meter per day, minimum of €15.00/Day.
TRANSIT TIME
We make every effort to have your shipment arrive at its destination on time. However, we
do not guarantee a specific transit time.
DOCUMENTATION
Documentation must be completed and sent to Movevitesse Limited., no later than one day
after shipment is tendered. Specific instructions will be given in advance and in writing as to
what documentation is required for shipping purposes. Failure to complete the
documentation required by Movevitesse Limited, in writing, can result in a delay of your
shipment, storage and Customs penalties or fines.
CONTAINER SCHEDULING
We make every effort to have your container arrive on time at your loading facility.
However, due to many factors beyond our control we can’t guarantee a specific delivery
time.
AES FILING
If cargo value is greater than €2500, by law we are required to file your information with
The destination Country Customs and charge will be added to your invoice.
DESTINATION CHARGES
All international shipments are subject to destination charges. These charges can include
the following: Port Fees, Customs Clearance, Terminal Charges, Agent Handling, Import
duty, tax, VAT, etc. These charges are to be paid by the consignee unless otherwise agreed
to in writing by Movevitesse Limited.
CUSTOMS CLEARANCE
It is the responsibility of the consignee to clear customs at destination unless otherwise
agreed to in writing by Movevitesse Limited.
SHIPPERS RESPONSIBILITY
It is the responsibility of the shipper to know and understand the import laws and
regulations of the country they are shipping to.
HAZARDOUS CARGO
It is the responsibility of the shipper to declare any hazardous materials being shipped. A
hazardous declaration must be submitted prior to booking. If you are shipping undeclared
hazardous cargo, penalties, fines and delays may incur as a result.
CUSTOMS
Customs can hold, search and confiscate your cargo with or without warning. Any
charges that incur as a result are to be paid by the shipper. If shipper refuses to pay,
his/her shipment will be placed on hold until charges are paid in full.
PAYMENT
Payment must be made fifteen days prior to the shipments sailing date. If not paid on time,
and in full, your shipment will be held and storage charges may incur.
PAYMENT METHODS
Movevitesse Limited accepts the following methods of payment: Money order, Bank Transfers (in Euros or Sterling) or Cash.
